About

Remmert’s 65,000 square feet of office and manufacturing space has state of the art robotic equipment that has helped the business quickly grow into one of the largest architectural millwork companies in the Southeast.

Our Story

In the quaint town of Tuscaloosa in 1947, a skilled craftsman named Ed Montgomery embarked on a journey that would lay the foundation for a legacy in woodworking. Ed, a passionate residential cabinet maker, opened the doors to Montgomery Woodworks, a small retail store that quickly gained a reputation for delivering exquisite craftsmanship and personalized service.

Fast forward to the late 80s, a pivotal moment in the history of Montgomery Woodworks. Bill Remmert, seeking to transition from the steel industry, found himself yearning to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning his own business. In 1989, fueled by passion and a daring spirit, Bill took a leap of faith and acquired Montgomery Woodworks from Ed Montgomery. Little did he know, this decision would shape the
destiny of the business for decades to come.

Bill’s vision went beyond the residential realm, and under his ownership, the organization pivoted toward the commercial sector. As the years unfolded, the once predominantly residential focus evolved into a commercial powerhouse. The mid-90s saw a defining moment when Bill acquired the site for our current manufacturing facility, laying the groundwork for future growth and innovation.

In 2011, adversity struck in the form of a tornado. Instead of hindering our progress, it acted as a catalyst for growth. The need to rebuild the entire facility became an opportunity to invest in state-of-the-art machinery and expand our capabilities. During this transformative period, Bill decided to rebrand the company, giving birth to Remmert & Company—a name that symbolized the evolution and commitment to excellence.

As time marched on, so did the Remmert legacy. In 2018, a significant chapter unfolded as Bill’s son and son-in-law took the reins of the company, seamlessly transitioning into the roles of CEO and COO. This marked the continuation of a family-owned millwork company in Tuscaloosa, ensuring that the values and craftsmanship instilled by Ed Montgomery and furthered by Bill Remmert remained at the core of our identity.

From the humble beginnings of Montgomery Woodworks to the present-day Remmert & Company, our journey has been one of resilience, innovation, and family values. What started as a small, local, residential store has blossomed into the largest millwork organization in the Southeast. We take pride in our ability to deliver Quality Products ON TIME, a testament to the dedication and expertise that have defined us throughout the years. Join us as we continue to craft excellence, building on a rich history and looking forward to a future filled with continued growth and success.

Leadership

Luke Remmert

President & CEO

Luke Remmert started his career in the construction industry as a young boy when he mowed the grass and swept the shop floor of his father’s millwork business. Those hands-on skills learned early have helped shape the hands-on leadership skills that he is known for today.

After a brief stint preparing for a career in medicine, Luke went with his intuition and directed his focus on the Building Science curriculum at Auburn University. After graduation he served as an estimator and project manager for a major construction firm before being called home to help his father in his millwork company.

Today Luke is President and CEO of Remmert & Company, and has helped grow the company into one of the largest architectural millwork firms in the Southeast. His wife and four children keep him plenty busy during off hours. He also serves as a board member for the Alabama Associated Builders and Contractors organization (ABC).

Barry Strozier

Executive Vice President & COO
Barry came to Remmert & Company in 2010 as a project manager in the quickly expanding Atlanta market. Today, Remmert’s business in the Atlanta Metro contributes more than thirty percent of the company’s gross revenue.

The preparation for his career in construction began after Barry received an undergraduate business degree from the University of Georgia and a Master’s degree from Georgia State. After starting a career in sales soon after graduation, he was brought on by Remmert & Company to help service and expand Remmert & Company’s new Atlanta market. In 2015 Barry was called to Tuscaloosa to manage Remmert’s project management and installation teams.
